BOUNDARY WORK/BOUNDARY OBJECTS – though not relating to ‘health’ …… rather akin to Sarah Casey’s work on the ‘boundaries’ of the seen/unseen. …….. sort of working in liminal spaces to reveal meanings and find shared understanding.
A joyous finale. Dancing heads grooving to the ‘Lawnmowers Beat This Band’ while Lenny’s animations dance on the walls.
The designing environments for living was a very interesting presentation. Reminded me a bit of the research I did after selling the ‘sensory piece’ to Grisedale Care home for their dementia sensory navigation improvements. I was struck by the presenter’s comment
‘You know, Debbie Harry’s in her 70’s. Would we expect her to be singing along to Val Doonican songs in her care home?’
I thought quite! and it reminded me of some stuff I was looking at the other day about ‘dementia design’ AWFUL stick on wall murals instead of actual painted ones. Please spare me from them when, in the future, I’m in a care home singing Debbie Harry songs.

I wonder, looking back, how much my interest in/consideration of dementia design a has subconsciously affected Shinrin? I’m wondering this because of the number of people who, commenting upon the installation , mention wanting it ‘in their home’ …. it does seem to have a sort of interior designy sort of feel for them…. which was not ACTUALLY intended by me.
